The Ayyubid dynasty was an Islamic state that emerged in Egypt in 1174 AD and expanded to include the Levant, the Hijaz, Yemen, Nubia, and some parts of the Maghreb. Saladin Yusuf ibn Ayyub is considered the founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, whose rule ended in 1250 AD.
