The currency was issued during the reign of Sultan Qaboos bin Said, who ruled the Sultanate of Oman from 1970-2020 AD / 1390-1441 AH.

Issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the United Nations (1945-1995).

Oversea: Center: The emblem of the Sultanate of Oman, two swords and a dagger, with 50 baisas written on either side.

Margin: Qaboos bin Said – Sultan of Oman, in Arabic and English.
