This currency was printed during the presidency of Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr and circulated during the presidency of Saddam Hussein, who ruled from 1979 to 2003.

 Obverse: Olive green and dark blue on a multicolored background. A coin motif is depicted in the center. To the right of the coin is written “One Dinar,” above it is written “Central Bank of Iraq,” and below is written the date of issue (1400 AH/1980 AD).

Reverse: Olive green and dark blue on a multicolored background / In the center: Al-Mustansiriya School in Baghdad / Above and below: Inscription in English (Central Bank of Iraq / One Riyal).
