The currency was issued during the reign of King Faisal I, who ruled from 1921 to 1933.

Obverse: Brownish-purple on a multicolored background. King Faisal I is on the right. At the top, it says “Iraqi Government,” and below it, “Five Dinars.” At the bottom center, it says the date of issue, 1931. The number 5 is written on all four sides.

Reverse: At the top, it says “Government of Iraq” in English / In the middle, it says “One Dinar” in English / Below it is the date of issue: 1931 AD.
