The currency was issued during the presidency of Saddam Hussein, who ruled from 1979 to 2003. Obverse: Light and dark blue on a multicolored background. An astrolabe (an ancient astronomical instrument that was a portable model of the universe) is on the right. A strong security thread with non-metallic Arabic text is present. At the top is written “Central Bank of Iraq,” and in the center, “Two Hundred and Fifty Dinars.” Between them is written the date of issue: 1424 AH / 2003 AD. Reverse: The minaret of the Great Mosque of Samarra (a 9th-century CE mosque located in Samarra, Iraq). In English, it says “Central Bank of Iraq” at the top and “Two hundred and fifty dinars” at the bottom. Size : 66 x 130 mm |
