This currency was printed during the presidency of Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1971 to 2000. Obverse: The Euphrates Dam, a statue of the water goddess with a vase, an ancient stone statue, Mari, and the National Museum of Aleppo. At the top is written “Central Bank of Syria,” below it “Fifty Syrian Pounds,” and at the bottom left is the date of issue (1412 AH / 1991 AD). Reverse: The Citadel of Aleppo, with the English text at the top Central Bank of Syria) and bottom (fifty Syrian pounds). Dimensions: 75 x 155 mm |
