This currency was printed during the presidency of Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1971 to 2000.

Obverse: Azem Palace in Damascus in the center, with a dancing woman on the right. The minaret and dome of the Umayyad Mosque are behind Azem Palace. At the top, it says “Central Bank of Syria,” and below it, “Ten Syrian Pounds.” At the bottom left, it says the date of issue (1412 AH / 1991 AD).

Reverse: A water treatment plant. The text above is in English top (Central Bank of Syria) and bottom (ten Syrian pounds).
