One Syrian piaster (qirsh) in 1929

This coin was minted during the French occupation, coinciding with the beginning of attempts to establish a government in Syria.

Obverse: A circle in the center with the words “State of Syria” written above it and “State of Syria” in French below it.

Reverse: Two tree branches with two lion heads between them. At the top, the Arabic text reads “One Piastre,” and at the bottom, the English text reads “1 Piastre.” Below that, the date of issue is 1929.
