الوجه: شعار الدولة السورية (الصقر بثلاثة نجوم على الدرع يحمل لفافة مكتوب عليها “الجمهورية العربية السورية” بالأحرف العربية. وفي الأسفل كتب تاريخ اصدار العملة سنة 1391 هـ/ 1971 م) الظهر: سنبلة قمح، محاطة بأغصان زيتون مكتوب داخل السنبلة 5 قروش / وكتب في الاعلة (الغذاء للجميع) التركيب: نحاس والزنك. الوزن: 3 غرام القطر: 19 ملم السمك: 1.5 ملم |

This currency was printed during the presidency of Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1971 to 2000. Obverse: The emblem of the Syrian state (a three-starred falcon on a shield holding a scroll inscribed with “The Syrian Arab Republic” in Arabic script. Below it is the date of issue: 1391 AH/1971 CE). Reverse: A wheat stalk surrounded by olive branches.
