This coin was minted during the French occupation, when Syria was (nominally) ruled by Muhammad Ahmad Nami, president of the First Syrian Republic.

Obverse: In the center is written “State of Syria,” and above and below the inscription is the date of issue, 1926 AD. Around the circle is written in French, “State of Syria.”

Reverse: In the center are two ears of wheat with the number 2 beside them. Below is written “Two Piastres,” and above is written in French, “Five Piastres.”

 Composition: Bronze and aluminum
