الظهر: طباعة متعددة الألوان. في الوسط واليسار أنظمة الري؛ سنابل القمح. / في الأعلى كتب (الجماهيرية العربية الشعبية الاشتراكية) وادناه مباشرة (مصرف ليبيا المركزي) وفي الأسفل كتب (نصف دينار)

The banknote was printed during the rule of President Muammar Gaddafi, who governed from 1969 to 2011.

Obverse: Dark blue on a blue background with multicolored printing. An oil refinery is depicted on the left. At the top is written “The Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya,” directly below it is written “Central Bank of Libya,” in the center is written “Half Dinar,” and at the bottom right is a verse from the Quran. (ولا تأكلوا تمويلكم بينكم بالباطل)

Reverse: Multicolor printing. In the center and left are irrigation systems; wheat stalks. / At the top is written (The Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya) and directly below it (Central Bank of Libya) and at the bottom is written (Half Dinar).
