This coin was minted during the reign of the Abbasid Caliph Abu Abdullah Muhammad al-Mahdi, who ruled from 158-169 AH / 775-785 CE. Obverse: In the center is written: There is no god but God, alone, without partner. Margin: In the name of God, this dirham was struck in Muhammadia in the year one hundred and sixty-seven. Reverse: In the center: Muhammad, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, the Caliph al-Mahdi. Margin: Muhammad, the Messenger of God, whom He sent with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all other religions, even though the polytheists may dislike it. |
