The banknote was issued during the tenure of President Ramaswamy Venkataraman (1987–1992). Obverse: Ashoka Pillar emblem (Emblem of the Republic of India) on the right; “Reserve Bank of India” in English and Hindi; the denomination “5 Rupees” in the center. Reverse: Three antelopes (Indian antelopes)—symbolizing wildlife—in the center; “Reserve Bank of India” in English and Hindi at the top; decorative patterns and the numeral “5” in the corners; and the language panel displaying “Five Rupees” on the left side. Dimensions: 117 x 11.7 mm. |
