This banknote was issued during the tenure of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who served from 1966 to 1977.

Obverse: At the top center, the name “Reserve Bank of India” appears in Hindi and English; on the right, the Emblem of the Republic of India (the Lion Capital of Ashoka) is set within a decorative frame; on the left is the watermark window featuring the Lion Capital of Ashoka; the denomination “Ten Rupees” in Hindi appears at the bottom right.

Reverse: The center features an illustration of a traditional Indian sailing vessel at sea, symbolizing maritime trade and navigation; on the left is the language panel displaying “Ten Rupees” in 13 languages; the Reserve Bank of India seal appears at the bottom center; the denomination “Ten Rupees” is written in English at the bottom right and in Hindi at the bottom; the watermark window is located on the right side.
