This banknote was issued by the National Bank of Djibouti during the tenure of President Hassan Gouled, who ruled from 1977 to 1999. Obverse: Features the portrait of a young woman on the left; the center depicts a group of seven people standing beside diesel passenger trains, along with the denomination written in Arabic and French (“RÉPUBLIQUE DE DJIBOUTI” and “One Thousand Francs”). Reverse: Features a scene of a merchant walking with a camel caravan through a desert and mountainous landscape. Dimensions: 152 × 81 mm. |
