The coin was minted during the second Abu Yahya government, which ruled from 1995 to 1998 (the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth Abu Yahya governments). Obverse: The number 5 in the center, below it (dinars), and above it in the margin (Bank of Algeria). Reverse: The front side shows an African elephant, beneath which is written the date of issue (1417 AH/1997 AD). |
