This coin was minted during the reign of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, who ruled from 2004 to 2022.

Issued to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

The obverse: 1 dirham is written in the center, surrounded by the words “United Arab Emirates” in Arabic and English. It is rarely circulated.

Reverse: 40 (1968-2008) is written in the center, and the Bank of Abu Dhabi is written in Arabic and English in the margin.
