This coin was minted during the presidency of Anwar Sadat, who ruled from 1970 to 1981.

It was issued to commemorate the first anniversary of the October War.

Obverse: In the center is written “5 piastres” and above it, “Arab Republic of Egypt.” Below it is the date of issue: 1394 AH / 1974 AD.

Reverse: It features a picture of a soldier, below which are written “10 Ramadan 1393 AH – 6 October 1973 AD.”
