Transnistria was an industrial part of the Soviet Union, and with the collapse of the Union, the region declared its separation and demanded independence unilaterally, but until now no one has recognized it. It is the closest to Moldova and tried to annex it in 1992 through a war between them, but Russia intervened to stop the war, but the region remained separate with its own government and its own currency.

The banknote was issued to protect Transnistria’s financial system after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Used Soviet and Russian banknotes were purchased, and adhesive stamps bearing Suvorov’s image and the denomination were printed on them.
