The coin was issued during the presidency of Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, who ruled from 1968 to 1979. Obverse: In the center is written “5 fils,” above it is written “Republic of Iraq,” and below it is a slender palm frond and a wheat stalk, symbolizing the agricultural environment.
