This currency was printed during the presidency of Bashar al-Assad, who ruled from 2000 to 2024. Obverse: Ugaritic script on cuneiform clay tablets from the ancient city of Ebla. At the top center is written “Central Bank of Syria.” Below this is the date of issue (1430 AH / 2009 AD). At the bottom center is written “Fifty Syrian Pounds.” Reverse: The National Library of Syria in Damascus and a statue of Hafez al-Assad. English text is written at the top(Central Bank of Syria) and below (Fifty Syrian Pounds). Size: 65 x 135 mm |
