This currency was printed during the presidency of Hafez al-Assad, who ruled from 1971 to 2000. Obverse: The Basra Theater and a statue of a warrior woman on the right. Above it is written “Central Bank of Syria,” below it “Five Syrian Pounds,” and in the lower left is the date of issue (1412 AH / 1991 AD). Reverse: Cotton picking and spinning. Above it is written in English “Central Bank of Syria,” and below it ” Five Syrian pounds.” Dimensions: 70 x 142 mm |
