The banknote was printed during the rule of President Muammar Gaddafi, who governed from 1969 to 2011.

Obverse: Ochre on the multicolored lower print / Arch of Tiberias – Leptis Magna / At the top is written (The Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya), directly below it (Central Bank of Libya) / In the center is written (A Quarter Libyan Dinar), at the bottom left is written the verse(ولا تأكلوا أمويلكم بينكم بالباطل)

Reverse: Printed in multiple colors. / In the center are palm trees and the Murzuq Castle / in Fezzan (Fawzan, Fasania) / Above and below are written the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, followed immediately below by (Central Bank of Libya) / Then at the bottom is a quarter dinar.
