This coin was minted during the reign of the Abbasid Caliph Abdullah al-Ma’mun, who ruled from 198-218 AH / 813-833 CE. Obverse: In the center is written: “There is no god but God, alone, without partner.” Margin: In the name of God, this dirham was struck in Dar al-Salam in the year two hundred and three. Reverse: In the center is written: “Muhammad, the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him.” Margin: Muhammad, the Messenger of God, whom He sent with guidance and the religion of truth to make it prevail over all other religions, even though the polytheists may dislike it |
